Awards & Accreditations: The Leapfrog Group® - Hospital Safety Score
Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (EHMC) has been awarded its fourth consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Score by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national non-profit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits.
U.S. hospitals received a letter grade of A, B, C, D or F based on the careful analysis of publicly available safety data, including preventable medical errors, injuries, accidents and infections. The final scores are designed to give the public information they can use to protect themselves and their families when seeking medical care, ultimately empowering patients to make more informed decisions.
“We are honored to be recognized once again by The Leapfrog Group for our unwavering commitment to remain at the forefront of the safest, highest quality medical care,” said Warren Geller, President and CEO of EHMC. “It is a transformative time for EHMC as we expand and build on our promise to deliver an outstanding patient experience to every person who walks into our Medical Center.”
In order to produce a single Hospital Safety Score, 28 national performance measures were calculated using data collected from the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the American Hospital Association’s Annual survey. That score represents a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm.
