Englewood Hospital Physician Honored for Continued Service to the Community

June 15, 2009 – Englewood Hospital and Medical Center’s Francis Forte, MD, was a recent recipient of the Medicine for Music Award at the Jazz Foundation of America’s 20th Anniversary Gala. Dr. Forte has led an extraordinary effort over the last 15 years to provide medical care to uninsured jazz musicians through his work with the Dizzy Gillespie Memorial Fund. Englewood Hospital has provided more than $5 million of free medical care to jazz musicians. Proceeds from the gala, which served as a tribute to blues music, benefited various social programs that provide assistance to musicians in need at the Jazz Foundation of America.
