Englewood Hospital Physician Co-Hosts TV Health Program

Medical show aims to empower community through health education

Earlier this year, two Bergen County doctors agreed that one of the best services they could provide their patients with was education about relevant health topics affecting their community. What began as a conversation between two doctors with common interests has evolved into a new cable talk show sponsored by Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, called “The Desi Doctors,” airing Wednesdays at 6:00 pm on Channel ITV.

Hetal Gor, MD, an obstetrician and gynecologist at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, and Jayshree Winters, MD, lead the television program’s informative discussions with prominent physician guests who address a range of health issues.  With its easy-to-understand and straightforward format, the program provides viewers with advice and insights into maintaining good health through preventative medicine and the latest options for managing or treating various diseases.

“Not enough people practice preventative medicine or take the time to stay informed about issues that could affect their health,” said Dr. Gor.  “Through this new medium, my colleagues and I hope to open the lines of communication between doctor and patient and encourage our community to learn more about common medical problems so they can better manage their personal health.”

“The Desi Doctors” (TheDesiDoctors.com) premiered in April 2009 on International Television (ITV or ITV Gold), which broadcasts informative South Asian programming.  The programming is available to Time Warner Cable television subscribers on Channel 77 or 563 and broadcasts to reach viewers in the tri-state area.
