Area Children to Learn About Hospital Experience At Englewood Hospital’s “Teddy Bear ER”

Sunday, August 16, 1:00 – 4:00 pm

Englewood Hospital and Medical Center will provide “care” to record numbers of teddy bears, dolls, and other toys when it hosts its Teddy Bear ER event on Sunday, August 16, 1:00 – 4:00 pm. The free event is designed to provide youngsters with an educating, entertaining and non-threatening introduction to the hospital experience. Children are invited to bring their favorite toys to the Medical Center to be examined, sewn, bandaged, or braced in a “mock” Emergency Room complete with X-ray, operating and casting areas.

“In addition to being lots of fun, this can be a tremendously helpful experience to children, especially if they or members of their family have to come to the hospital in the future to receive medical attention,” notes Phyllis Brown, Manager of Community Relations of Englewood Hospital. “We encourage the whole family to come and enjoy the event.”

During the event, children will have the opportunity to tour an ambulance, receive a free KidCare Photo ID Kit, learn valuable safety tips and enjoy free refreshments. Children of all ages and their parents are invited to this family event, which will be held at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center’s new Kaplen Pavilion. Scheduled for a September 17 ribbon cutting, the new wing will house the Medical Center’s new, 35,000-sq.-ft. Emergency Care Center and a 22-bed, state-of-the-art patient care unit for orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery patients.

There is no charge for the event but preregistration is required. To register, visit englewoodhospital.com or call 866.980.EHMC (3462).
