10th Annual Andiamo Benefit Motorcycle Run

This year’s Andiamo Benefit Motorcycle Run on September 13 will be more than a gorgeous array of bikes, a beautiful morning ride and a gathering of first-rate folks eager to help others. It will also be the 10the consecutive Andiamo Run since its founding in 2000 when a few determined, civic-minded individuals set out to raise funds for a motorcycle bike for the Cresskill Police Department. Since then, the event has swelled to include thousands of bikers over the years and numerous sponsors and other donors who, together, have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local worthy causes.

“Whether you ride, attend the post-run party or contribute through a sponsorship or donation, you can be part of a tremendous event that benefits your neighbors, your community and you,” said co-founder and organizer Don Dickstein, who started the Andiamo Run with his son, Alan, and the late Sgt. Mikey O’Loughlin.

“In uncertain times such as these, we are pleased to offer a way for people to join in supporting a common cause and do something positive and uplifting,” he continued. “Although it has become more difficult than ever for some to make charitable donations, we are confident of a good, solid turnout. The $30 biker’s fee, which includes a commemorative T-shirt and lunch, is a great value, but more importantly, participants know that their donations will go far. We are very proud of the fact that we are an all-volunteer organization with minimal costs.”

Sponsorships range from $125 to $5,000 and include a variety of thank you gifts, including commemorative garb and gift certificates to Andiamo Restaurant in Haworth, NJ, home base for the event. Sponsors of $500 and more will receive the Limited Edition Decade Jacket, an embroidered, silk-screened, black denim beauty. The Decade Jacket will also be available for $68 at the run and, afterward, at Andiamo Restaurant.

In recognition of the service of the many police officers who have been essential to the success of the event and to honor one who fell in the line of duty, part of the proceeds will go to the Jersey City Police Detective Marc Anthony DiNardo Memorial Fund. Other beneficiaries include the new emergency care center at Englewood Hospital, Haworth Volunteer Ambulance, Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics NJ, Andiamo Run Scholarships at St. Therese's School and other local causes.
