New Study Shows Alarming Rise in Skin Cancer Rates
Englewood Hospital Offers Free Screening to Help Combat Deadly Disease

(Englewood, NJ, May 8, 2012) – Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States and according to a recently-released study, this dangerous and deadly epidemic has grown dramatically since 1970. Researchers with the Mayo Clinic now report women, ages 18 to 39, are eight times more likely to develop skin cancer, while men in the same age group are four times as likely to develop the disease.

In recognition of “Skin Cancer Awareness Month,” Englewood Hospital is taking action to highlight the importance of prevention - urging the community to take advantage of a free skin cancer screening. Participants will have access to Englewood Hospital’s board-certified dermatologists and physicans who will perform a close physical exam to identify any significant lesions.
