GOLD SEAL OF APPROVAL FOR SPINAL FUSION PROGRAM AT ENGLEWOOD HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL CENTER

-Englewood Hospital Among Few in the Nation to Earn Prestigious Distinction-

(Englewood, NJ, July 18, 2012) – Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is proud to announce it has earned the Gold Seal of Approval™ for its Spinal Fusion program from the Joint Commission, an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies health programs and institutions that meet stringent and exemplary healthcare and safety standards.

Englewood Hospital is the only hospital in New Jersey and one of just 15 in the country to receive this prestigious designation.

“We are extremely proud of this achievement, which highlights our outstanding Spinal Fusion program on both state and national levels,” said Frank Moore, MD, Chief of Neurosurgery at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. “This certification would not have been possible without the dedicated efforts of our entire team - from the operating room nurses and technicians to the ancillary services of the Medical Center – who work hard to exceed the expectations of our patients every single day.”

All spine surgery is performed by the board-certified, surgical experts of Englewood Hospital’s Spine Center. The Center offers a wide range of medical, surgical and rehabilitative services for patients with back injuries and pain.

“We are honored that our program earned a Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission,” said Maddy Pearson, MA, RN, NEA-BC, Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. “We voluntarily pursued this comprehensive, independent evaluation and we’re proud to receive this distinction. The Gold Seal recognizes that Englewood Hospital makes exceptional efforts to promote better outcomes for its patients, and this prestigious designation reflects the high quality and safety of our program and the commitment by our team.”

The Joint Commission conducted a rigorous on-site survey, during which the Medical Center was found to provide exceptional care to spinal fusion patients and their families.
