(Englewood, NJ, May 3, 2013) – Englewood Hospital and Medical Center recently observed Volunteer Week, celebrating the 600+ volunteers, who contributed 75,000 hours of service in 2012. The Medical Center showed its appreciation for their selfless dedication, compassion and hard work during a special awards ceremony and luncheon.

“Volunteers are the heart of this hospital,” said Carol Hoth, Director of Volunteer Services at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. “We celebrate their commitment to our hospital and staff and recognize their efforts and the critical role they play in the lives of our patients and their families.”

Volunteer Viola Bell was named “Volunteer of the Year” for her 19 years of service and commitment to assisting the Medical Center and its patients. Four Junior Volunteers were selected to receive scholarships in recognition of their service, which often took place weekdays after class, during designated school breaks and on weekends.

“The Junior Volunteer Program gives participants the opportunity to explore various careers in the healthcare industry and these experiences have given these students insight into their field of study, which would not be possible without the support of various departmental staff, physician and nurses,” said Vindra Marsoubian, Volunteer Coordinator at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.
