Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Achieves “A” for Patient Safety

-Leapfrog Award Reflects Highest Possible Grade-

(Englewood, NJ, May 9, 2012) Englewood Hospital and Medical Center has been awarded an “A” Hospital Safety ScoreSM by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national non-profit run by employers and other large purchasers of health benefits. This latest safety report marks the third consecutive “A” Englewood Hospital has received from the Leapfrog Group.

U.S. hospitals received an A, B, C, D or F based on the careful review and analysis of publicly available safety data, including preventable medical errors, injuries, accidents and infections. The final scores are designed to give the public information they can use to protect themselves and their families when seeking medical care.

“We are proud to be named among the nation’s safest hospitals, once again” said Kathy Kaminsky, MS, RN, Senior Vice President of Clinical Effectiveness and Chief Quality Officer at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. “This report reflects our efforts to provide patients the safest, high-quality care available. As Englewood Hospital expands to offer its community new services, we will continue to develop and implement new strategies to ensure the Medical Center remains a national leader in high quality care and patient safety.”

The Hospital Safety ScoreSM was calculated under the guidance of the nation’s leading experts on patient safety, a nine-member Blue Ribbon Expert Panel who used 26 measures of publicly available data to produce a single score. That score represents a hospital’s overall capacity to keep patients safe from preventable harm.
