Center for Sleep Medicine at Englewood Hospital Granted Reaccreditation

- American Academy of Sleep Medicine Recognizes Excellence in Quality Care -

(Englewood, NJ, June 11, 2013) – The Center for Sleep Medicine at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center recently achieved reaccreditation through 2018 from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).

Englewood Hospital’s Sleep Center participated in a voluntary assessment of the facility’s dedication to clinical excellence, high quality care and its commitment to enhance the awareness of sleep as an important element of health, safety and quality of life.

“Our sleep medicine professional staff recognizes that each individual develops sleep apnea for a different reason, therefore therapy is focused on a particular physiology or airway pathology,” said Jeff Salizzoni, MD, Sleep Specialist at The Center for Sleep Medicine at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.

AASM Accreditation of Sleep Disorders Centers is considered the gold standard for evaluating and comparing sleep medicine program and facilities nationwide. Englewood Hospital’s Sleep Center reaccreditation demonstrates the staff’s ongoing efforts to provide patients high quality diagnostic services and long-term management of sleep disorders.

Sleep apnea is a life-long condition treated with continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), that may lose effectiveness over time,” explained Dr Salizzoni.Physician follow-up can help to identify and resolve most issues. If CPAP use is less than four hours or was once excellent and now declining, our sleep technologists will investigate further and discuss alternative therapeutic options so that our patients can achieve a restful, uninterrupted night of sleep.”

Englewood Hospital’s Center for Sleep Medicine offers a comprehensive and sophisticated diagnostic program to identify sleep disorders in pediatric and adult patients. The Sleep Medicine team includes specialists in pulmonary medicine, neurology, otolaryngology, psychiatry, and obesity who can provide a variety of non-invasive, nonessful treatments.

Overnight stays at The Center for Sleep Medicine can be arranged any night of the week, including weekends. Each modern and private sleep room offers a comfortable, full-size mattress, a private bathroom and soothing decor, including carpeting and curtains.

If you are a loud, habitual snorer, feel tired and groggy upon awakening, experience sleepiness and fatigue during waking hours, are overweight, or tend to choke, gasp or hold your breath during sleep, you may be suffering from an undiagnosed sleep disorder.
