(Englewood, NJ, September 24, 2013) Englewood Hospital and Medical Center (EHMC) is pleased to announce the election of Jay C. Nadel as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Foundation. Mr. Nadel’s term is effective as of September 24, 2013. He succeeds Richard J. Kurtz who successfully served as EHMC Foundation Chairman from 2001 to 2013.

Mr. Nadel has served the Medical Center in a number of leadership capacities. He joined the EHMC Board in 2000, was elected Treasurer in 2004 and was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of EHMC and its parent organization, Englewood Healthcare System, serving the maximum of a full two terms, from 2006 – 2012.

Mr. Nadel has provided the leadership in transforming EHMC from a community hospital into a world class Medical Center. These activities have included financial reforms which have enabled the Medical Center to operate profitably on a consistent basis, creating a culture of philanthropy, achieving unprecedented growth, as well as achieving a record amount of national awards for patient safety, quality care and excellent patient outcomes.

Mr. Nadel was honored and received the EHMC Foundation’s Touchstone Award, in what became a record breaking Gala dinner, raising over $1 million for Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.

“Over the past decade, Jay’s leadership of change has been essential to the notable achievements that have positioned Englewood Hospital and Medical Center as a top healthcare provider in the region,” said Warren Geller, President and CEO of EHMC.

“The communities that we serve are fortunate to have a man of Jay’s intelligence, focus and integrity at the forefront of our efforts to usher in EHMC’s next era of growth,”  said Thomas C. Senter, Chairman of the Board of EHMC and Englewood Healthcare System.

Most recently, the Foundation raised $30 million to build The Kaplen Pavilion that houses what is considered by many to be one of the best emergency rooms in the country. Mr. Nadel helped lead the efforts to secure a number of pacesetting gifts which ultimately inspired hundreds of community members to support the Medical Center in this groundbreaking initiative.

A native of New Jersey, Mr. Nadel graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree from the Smith School of Business. As a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Nadel worked in the management group of KPMG. He subsequently became a partner and managing director in the investment firm Weiss, Peck & Greer, chairing the Operations Committee of the firm.  He is currently the Vice Chairman of The New Jersey Meadowlands Commission.  Additionally, he currently serves on the Board of Directors of a number of corporate and not for profit organizations.

Mr. Nadel’s wife Beth is also an active member of the community, serving as a Board member of Jewish Family Services as well as being a member of EHMC Foundation’s Breakfast Club. They have three children and reside in Demarest.
