Early Diagnosis

Breast Cancer is treatable when caught at the earliest stages. The Breast Care Center was recognized in 2000 by the American College of Pathology for being able to recognize tumors one-half the size of those detected at 95% of all other institutions in the country.

In addition to our superior diagnostic capability, Englewood provides compassionate care, superior medical and surgical care, along with the latest treatment options available. Patients benefit from a team of experts reviewing every single case and recommending an individualized treatment plan. Patients will find the most advanced technology, access to all protocols, as well as the gift of time spent answering questions, educating and providing support.

Who Should Visit The Center

Dawn Hegadorn, Director of the Cytodiagnosis and Breast Care Center. The Breast Care Center has doubled in size in its new location at the Russell and Angelica Berrie Center for Humanistic Care. 20,000 patients were treated at the Center last year. Now, twice that number can be accommodated.

Anyone with a breast problem, lump, or lump detected elsewhere in the body will benefit from the diagnostic offerings of The Breast Care Center. It is also very important for women who are not at high risk for breast cancer and who have no present or recurrent breast related problems to schedule a Screening Mammogram. Annual mammograms and clinical breast examinations are presently the best means for early detection resulting in effective treatment of breast cancer. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that women undergo at least one baseline screening mammogram between the ages of 35 and 40, while women 40 years and older should schedule an annual exam.

With breast cancer being the leading cancer of women in the United States, The Breast Care Center emphasizes a formal breast care program that addresses early detection, diagnosis and treatment.

A specially trained team of the most experienced radiologists and cytopathologists for diagnosing cancer staffs the Breast Care Center. (See Our Staff.) They participate in national and international committees, including the National Cancer Institute’s Committee to standardize breast cancer diagnosis and treatment, where three of The Breast Care Center’s physicians were chosen among only 40 nationwide.
