NEUROLOGY AND NEUROSURGERY AT ENGLEWOOD HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL CENTER
To offer patients the highest level of care for disorders of the nervous system, Englewood Hospital brings together many of the region’s top specialists in stroke care, neurology, neurosurgery, endovascular neurosurgery, neuro-oncology, and concussion treatment. Our multidisciplinary team provides personalized, compassionate treatment to every patient. We are home to the latest research and technology and offer the most advanced diagnostic capabilities. This allows our expert team to deliver powerful, precise treatment options to emergency patients, outpatients, and inpatients.
Highlights of our program include:
Primary Stroke Center: Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is part of a select group of hospitals nationwide designated by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center, which recognizes that our program significantly improves outcomes for stroke patients. We are also a New Jersey State Department of Health and Senior Services (NJDOHSS) Designated Primary Stroke Center.
Englewood Hospital’s stroke team is distinctive in that the response and care of stroke patients has been planned by and is implemented by a coordinated team of experts. These care providers include members of the Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU), physicians, nurses and technicians. Read more about our stroke care.
Neuro-oncology: Englewood Hospital and Medical Center offers a range of highly innovative surgical and radiosurgical procedures and techniques to treat cancer of the brain and spine. Our neurosurgeons work in conjunction with neurologists, oncologists, and radiation oncologists to customize cancer treatment using well-established and safe techniques to improve patient outcomes by simultaneously maximizing tumor control and minimizing neurological morbidity.
Endovascular Neurosurgery: A variety of minimally invasive endovascular neurosurgery techniques are now being used for aneurysm repair, tumor embolizations, screenings for cancer markers, and other procedures. Performed in Englewood Hospital’s state-of-the-art Angiography Suite, endovascular neurosurgery is done via venopuncture in the groin through which the surgeon navigates a catheter through the femoral artery to the blood vessels in the brain. Due to these innovative procedures, patients treated at Englewood Hospital for a number of brain conditions are discharged with a small bandage rather than the scalp incisions associated with traditional brain surgery. Patients undergoing endovascular neurosurgery generally have faster recovery and shorter hospital stays.
Concussion Center: Englewood Hospital and Medical Center offers comprehensive care for children and adults suffering from symptoms and effects of concussion and post-concussion syndrome. We also offer the ImPACT Baseline Concussion Test for student athletes.
