Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is committed to providing quality care to all children. Our outpatient pediatric rehabilitation program provides individualized care in a child friendly environment. Our goal is to maximize your child’s functional status by focusing on their strengths and abilities. We provide a team approach in the development of your child’s therapy program to achieve the highest functional outcomes possible.
Family involvement is an important part of your child’s therapy. Our therapists instruct and education the child as well as the family. The family plays an essential role in the child’s progress by following through with a specialized home program. Open communication between the child, their family and the therapist is a key element in assuring optimal outcomes.
Occupational Therapy focuses on treatment for children with developmental delay, difficulty with fine motor skills, orthopedic conditions, neuromuscular conditions and sensory processing difficulties. Occupational therapy customizes programs aimed at developing specific skills to improve a child’s ability to function and carry out activities of daily living.
Physical therapy focuses on treatment of children with orthopedic, musculoskeltal and neurological conditions. During therapy sessions activities are used to improve the child’s gross motor skills, walking, balance coordination and neuromuscular control. Each child receives one-on-one services aimed at improving motoric abilities.
Speech therapy facilitates the development of auditory comprehension, expressive language and speech production as well as pragmatic (social) language and cognitive development. Therapy activities center on naturalistic play and include structured tasks when appropriate. Speech therapy also addresses the needs of infants and children with feeding and swallowing issues to facilitate safe, adequate and developmentally appropriate nutrition. Services are also available for voice and stuttering.
